About the Designer, Amy Daileda

Inspired by the sublime of celestial objects and the beauty found in the tiny details of nature, I paint, create wearable art, and do macro photography in the Alberta Arts district of Portland, Oregon. My mom started teaching me to sew when I was 5, and I have been creating eco-fashion since 1997. I infuse my love of nature, color and creating into every piece.

I have a degree in painting, a deep love of nature and am a slow fashion activist. In 2017 I won 1st place in Modified Style’s fundraising fashion show, was on the board of advisors for Portland’s Sustainable Fashion Forum in 2018-2019, and I also co-host the Slow Fashion Challenge on Instagram. In 2019 I took Vivid Element to London to participate in Pause Conscious Fashion Pop-Up with the aid of a grant I received from the state of Oregon.

My goal is to share the awe I find in the details of nature through my art so that my customers can feel connected to nature as they express their own creativity through the clothing that they wear and the art in their home. I want to share the joy of wearing slow fashion in harmony with nature with as many people as possible, so that I can help change the world, one dress at a time.

Enjoy the details! -Amy Daileda

Vivid Element and Slow Fashion

I am thrilled to be offering women a vibrant, comfortable, artisan made alternative to fast fashion with Vivid Element. I love the concept of slow fashion—clothing made with integrity. Pieces are created with love in small batches out of organic fabrics in Portland, Oregon. Artistry and high quality craftsmanship are top priorities, and pieces are long lasting and often can be worn in multiple seasons.

Attempting to create zero waste in my life and business is also important to me, and I design with this in mind. Many Vivid Element pieces have sections of hand dyed fabrics that are collaged together. These are pieces that would have otherwise been thrown away, but are now given the spotlight as the trim or main part of the designs. Delight in the knowledge that you are part of the slow fashion movement when you wear Vivid Element!

Vivid Element pieces feature zero waste designs, rich hand dyed color, comfortable fits, and fabrics that are natural, high quality and environmentally friendly. I professionally hand dye some fabrics using low impact dyes and my own color recipes which create colors that are vibrant, permanent and distinctive. You can explore the universe while looking stunning and feeling great in the comfortable, breathable fabrics, easily wash them and then pack them for your next trip. Many Vivid Element designs feature one of a kind elements, so you can wear a unique garment and enjoy knowing that the designer worked on every piece. Feel the ease, simplicity and joy found in wearing slow fashion made with love as you express your vibrant nature.

Why Hemp and Organic Cotton?

Hemp is extremely fast growing, naturally needs no pesticides or herbicides, uses very little water to grow, and its deep root system protects the soil it’s grown in from erosion while leaving it in excellent condition for future crops. Hemp is the strongest natural fiber, and it is breathable, softens with use, naturally anti-microbial and quick to dry. It makes beautiful, comfortable garments that feel great to wear and can be washed repeatedly and still look great, lasting for many years.  Hemp was first cultivated by humans more than 12,000 years ago!

Organic Cotton is grown without the use of pesticides or insecticides. Conventionally grown cotton uses more insecticides than any other single crop, accounting for more than 10% of total pesticide use and nearly 25% of insecticides use worldwide. Organic cotton is soft and beautiful, and much better for our planet!
